Alexis Goldfinch

Having gained extensive experience both in house and in top end law firms, I’m very proud to have developed an excellent reputation as a highly skilled commercial lawyer. I started my legal career at one of London’s most respected law firms, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 2007 and qualified as a solicitor in 2009.

During my time at Freshfields I gained experience in the Intellectual Property (IP)/Information Technology (IT) and Commercial team and decided that these were the areas I wanted to concentrate on in my career. I worked on a wide range of matters across a variety of sectors while there, including advising Apple Inc. on its patent litigation against Samsung; advising Geely, the Chinese car manufacturer, on its acquisition of Volvo from Ford Motor Company; advising the credit card provider MBNA, on its partnership agreements, sale of part of its credit card portfolio to Virgin Money and other commercial contracts and advising Yum! (owner of KFC and Pizza Hut) on trade mark infringement issues. I also gained in house experience on major client secondments to Barclays Bank plc, PepsiCo, Sony and Bank of America.

In 2019, I joined AIM listed management consultancy firm, Alpha FMC, as their first and sole legal counsel. My time at Alpha coincided with a period of rapid growth for the company which included three acquisitions and rapid global expansion. During my time there, I set up Alpha’s legal function and established a team of three lawyers. My position quickly grew into a Global Head of Legal role and trusted advisor to the Board, whilst being responsible for all new legal matters for the company including client and supplier contracts, litigation, trade-marks, recruitment insurance and employment. I also advised Alpha’s different business divisions (consultancy, interim resource and software solutions) and I took great pride in the strong relationships I built with all business stakeholders and the fact that my advice was actively sought and welcomed on key business decisions.

After three years at Alpha, I decided that I wanted to use all the experience I’d gained and start a career as a freelance lawyer. I haven’t looked back. I now focus on established, growing businesses that understand the need for highly competent legal services, but don’t need a full-time, in-house lawyer. I particularly enjoy working in dynamic, fast-paced companies who are looking to grow, are perhaps preparing for a round of funding or maybe developing their exit strategy.

In addition to my legal work, I’m involved with a number of charities and offer my time and expertise to help those less fortunate in London. I volunteer at City Harvest, a food charity which delivers surplus foods to soup kitchens, food banks etc.

Outside of work and volunteering, I’m a mother to two sporty children (with very busy schedules!) and I enjoy playing tennis and walking by the river near my home in London.
